Malware; what is it?
Malware is short for malicious software. That is software intentionally designed to cause damage or harm. Whether that is to a computer, server or network.
Malware can be in the form of executable code, scripts, active content, and more.
Common malware types are viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, and information stealers. But there are many more out there.
Malware does not include software that causes unintentional harm due to some deficiency (i.e. poor coding).
I hope this helps!
